Hey, it's Shrove Tuesday!

So, what are your favourite pancake toppings?

My favourite savoury is pesto with cheese grated on top. And for sweet, I find that if you grate on an apple and sprinkle brown sugar, that makes a very drippy but delicious pancake.

What's yours?

Comments:
Here in Detroit, the Polish immigrants have brought us the tradition of eating Paczki (pronounced punch-key) on "fat Tuesday." They are deep-fried, oversized, jelly doughnuts dipped in sugar. Every grocery store in town has them this time of year.

I met a friend for coffee this morning and she gave me one. Oh, it was good! But too heavy to eat more than once a year. Besides, I don't think one can fully appreciate the excess of fat Tuesday if one does not observe the fasting of lent. (I have a different faith label.)

Caster sugar. That is all.

Have a lovely day! :-)

I'm a very bland lemon and sugar traditionalist. It's what made our country great, Blitz spirit, bring back National Service etc.
Of course, that depends on whether or not I actually succeed in making a pancake and not, as in most previous attempts, burnt batter lumps.
Paczki sound great. I wonder if the London Polish community has them?

I'm sorry, I don't know how to do links, but here is more about Paczki.

See how big they are? Huge, huge doughnuts.

Yum.

They have rose jam fillings? Give me one!

I know I'm a bit late on this one, but my personal pancake topping has always been the fruit syrups that Smucker's makes, especially boysenberry. Saturday mornings growing up for me were always about watching classic Warner Brothers cartoons and eating pancakes (or waffles) with Smucker's syrup.

Sometimes my mom would have strawberries and whipped cream to put on the pancakes. Those were the BEST!
